Christianity vs. Catholicism

One of the main things that I find myself explaining is the difference between Christianity and Catholicism. Is there really a definite difference? The answer is yes. Being a Christian my entire life has allowed me to explore the differences and it has allowed me to have a not-so-close-minded view.

Many people ask me if I’m very religious and I think this is one of the most evident differences. Catholicism focuses on strict guidelines such as confession and they use those guidelines to determine the level of religion. In Christianity, however, religion isn’t as guideline oriented. A relationship with God is the most recognized determining factor. So to answer the question of if I’m very religious, I would say, no. I have a strong relationship with God.

Another difference that can be observed is the way that Christians and Catholics pray. When Christians pray, it sounds more like a conversation whereas with Catholics it is prewritten. The Lord’s Prayer and Hail Mary are heard frequently.

Some of the other differences are pastors versus priests, baptisms, communion, and the way that services are held.

Though there are many difference, there are just as many similarities too. What are some of the similarities and differences that you’ve seen?

  2. In Christendom you have many churches were they adhere to three gods:1.God the Father; 2. god the son and 3. god the Holy Spirit. Though God prohibited to worship in front of pictures or statues there are many churches found where they use all sorts of objects in their veneration. Lots of Christians kneel down in front of statues or pictures of saints and gods.

In Christianity many groups may be found which try to stay close to the Word of God and which try to follow the first followers of Christ, hence the name Christians. Those churches all depend on the culture and the customs of the country where they are. Though try to stay for away from heathen customs , where those churches of Christendom like the Catholics mostly integrated local customs and took over many heathen customs. Several of those Catholic and protestant churches are not only living in this world they do not mind taking over many customs of this world and being off this world. Whilst the others try to stay out off the world.

A real Christian should follow the words of Christ and only keep worshipping One Only True God and follow His Laws and the Laws of His son, Jeshua (Jesus Christ).
